In either case, buyers were happy to pay for the right to buy something special, even if they knew it would likely take time to finish the order. The allure of buying that rare vehicle offset the extra wait time rather than getting a car from the local inventory. Fast forward to today, and the car-buying landscape has dramatically shifted. No longer are there rows of new cars to pick from, so when you desire something unique, then buying directly from the factory is now your best option. If you need a vehicle immediately, purchasing from the vehicles available on the lot now is your best option.
The best part of custom ordering your new car is that you can choose the exact features you want. You can choose NAV, leather seating, and AWD, and it can be your lucky color: black! When buying a vehicle that’s in stock, you probably would have needed to compromise depending on the available new cars. You could get all of the upgrades you wanted, but it was Front-Wheel Drive instead of AWD. Or they had the right color, but it comes with cloth seats instead of leather. If you custom order, you get what you want.
Conversely, by ordering your new vehicle from the manufacturer, you don’t pay for features you don’t need. Perhaps you were looking for AWD and NAV but didn’t care about the leather seats or vehicle color. While you might not be able to order every option ala carte, yet by ordering your brand-new vehicle, you can reduce the pricey upgrades. We do suggest that you review any available option packages, as they tend to have the most popular upgrades together at a lower price.
